       on november 14, 2020, the commencement ceremony of the china (chengdu) future water ecological science and technology city project (hereinafter referred to as "the project"), invested and constructed by china water environment group (cweg) was held in chengdu.
       china (chengdu) future water ecological science and technology city is the first future-oriented science and technology city of water ecology built by cweg, with a total investment of 2.5 billion yuan. led by the industrial fund under sdic, the project is based on china’s only national engineering laboratory in the area of wastewater treatment (southwest branch), as well as the sino-german international testing platform. moreover, with the joint support of tsinghua university school of environment, china urban research institute, sichuan university, sichuan provincial ecological and environmental research institute, chongqing university and other domestic universities, cweg aims to build not only a water ecology city but also a complex gathering government, industry, academia, research and application departments.
       dr. hou feng, chairman of cweg, delivered a speech on behalf of the main project implementation party. he pointed out that shuangliu district party committee and district government attach great importance to ecological environment management and green technology development. chengdu-chongqing economic circle has been upgraded as a major national strategic plan, and shuangliu district, as a significant part of tianfu new area, sichuan pilot free trade zone and chengdu airport economic demonstration zone, plays an important role in promoting the developement of chengdu-chongqing economic circle.

       lin peng, secretary-general of china urban research institute of tsinghua university, pointed out that the project implements the spirit of the fifth plenary session of the 19th cpc central committee and plays an important, fundamental and innovative role in the 14th five-year urban development plan. he said that, in the future urban renewal initiatives in china, through joint exploration with cweg, integrating water, energy, waste treatment and smart city in the same platform can bring more positive energy to the city. he believes the project will become a demonstration and benchmark for china""s eco-cities and future cities.
       on behalf of four teams of shuangliu district, party committee secretary, mr. xian rongsheng expressed his congratulations on the successful landing of the project. he pointed out that shuangliu district is a hot spot for development, a treasure trove for investment and a hope for the future. empowered by cweg, the project will be built into a water ecological science and technology city as well as a new ecology-oriented development(eod) demonstration area that focuses on innovation, r&d, transformation of scientific and technological results, environmental protection products exhibition, exchange of scientific and technological
personnel, industrial fund, government policy support. as the ecology continues to improve, shuangliu will also become "the fastest growing place for citizens"" sense of gain, happiness and security”.
