on the afternoon of oct. 24, 2017, accompanied by leaders including jin shudong, director of the beijing municipal water authority, and wang yanshi, deputy head of tongzhou district, a 13-person expert group from the ministry of housing and urban-rural development led by zhang linwei, deputy director of the urban construction department, paid a visit to the beijing bishui underground wwtp (or “bishui project”) invested and built by cweg for inspecting the progress of black and smelly water body treatment. fang yajun, director of the tongzhou district water authority, and cweg vice president shao yanqing, reported to the expert group on the progress of water environment management in beijing’s sub-center tongzhou, the bishui underground wwtp’s technical and model innovation, high-quality effluent, and its contribution to the improvement of river water quality and regional water environment, as well as ecological restoration.

the expert group was deeply impressed by cweg’s fifth generation of proprietary underground wwtp system that can technologically turn dirty wastewater into clear and odorless high-quality effluent which is then released into the yudai river. thanks to the advanced technology, the water quality of yudai river has been greatly improved. the yudai river is no longer black and smelly but teemed with aquatic plants and fish. the successful application of cweg’s innovative underground wwtp technology in the bishui project won the admiration of zhang linwei.
as a key ppp project of the beijing municipal government, the bishui project is built on cweg’s fifth generation of proprietary underground wwtp system featuring “eco-friendliness, land intensiveness and resource utilization”, and occupies only 1/3 of the area of the original wwtp. all the treatment facilities are moved underground, with treatment capacity increased by 80% to 180,000 t/d. the effluent achieves the surface water quality standard class iv, and can be used to sustainably feed beijing’s sub-center tongzhou, or for ecological water replenishment for watercourses and municipal uses. above the wwtp, a 56.5 ha. bishui park will be constructed based on the concept of  “sponge city”. the implementation of the bishui project will help tongzhou solve the problems of black and smelly water bodies, improve the quality of water environment and promote ecological restoration.

tongzhou district water authority deputy directors ji xiaoguang and xu xiaoyun, cweg beijing hq general manager li tao, and beijing xintong bishui recycled water co., ltd. deputy general manager shi naibiao, etc. accompanied the expert group during the visit.
