2018-01-08 in jan. 2018, the “high-discharge-standard compliant and energy-efficient anaerobic-anoxic-oxic key technology and demonstration project” initiated by tsinghua university and jointly submitted by organizations including cweg, was awarded the second prize of the “environmental science and technology award 2017”. this award is known as the highest of the environmental science and technology field in china, signifying that cweg’s innovative achievements in this field received recognition once again.
a key research achievement of this project was the study and application of the “intelligent precision aeration control technology for wwtp”, thanks to a long-term partnership between cweg and a team headed by professor shi hanchang at tsinghua university. this technology can further reduce the energy consumption of the biochemical treatment facility while ensuring effluent discharge compliance. so far the technology has been successfully applied in several wwtps in places like guiyang, beijing and shanghai, etc.
in the context that the 19th cpc national congress places a major focus on ecological civilization construction and environmental protection, and raises higher requirements for environmental technology innovation, this award indicates that cweg’s technological innovation strength has been recognized and supported both by the government and the industry, and is also an acknowledgement of the group’s positive contribution to china’s environmental protection and environmental science & technology fields.
